Through evaluation and the individualized treatment programs, we treat existing problems and provide excellent preventive health care to meet a variety of needs. Among the many services we provide, we specialize in the treatment of:
- Post-operative rehabilitation
- Orthopedic related dysfunction
- Failed back syndrome
- Neck, shoulder and back pain
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
The goal of our team of licensed occupational therapists is to restore the function of the painful limb and teach adaptation strategies for gaining normal function in activities of daily living using:
- Treatment of various wrist and elbow conditions
- Joint mobilization techniques
- Custom splinting
HAND THERAPY
The hand is vital to human function and appearance. It flexes, extends, opposes, and grasps thousands of times daily, allowing the performance of necessary daily activities. The hand’s sensibility allows feeling without looking and provides protection from injury. The hand touches, gives comfort, and expresses emotions. Loss of hand function through injury or disease affects much more than mechanical task that the hand performs.
- Custom splinting post operative patients
AQUATIC THERAPY
Aquatic Therapy is a gravity-reduced exercise for medical conditions such as joint replacement, arthritis, fibromyalgia and following surgery. The buoyancy, support, and accommodating resistance of water enhance exercise and create a safe environment for progressive rehabilitation. The temperature of the water is kept at a comfortable 94 degrees. Our pool has multiple levels of depths up to 4 ½ feet with whirlpool jets as well as an underwater treadmill, which allows early and progressive rehabilitative exercises. Supervised water exercises are preformed in the water therapy pool. These are multiple exercises and techniques that we can perform within the therapy pool. Aqua therapy is excellent for total body reconditioning.
FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY EVALUATIONS & IMPAIRMENT RATINGS
Our Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is an intense one-day evaluation that focuses on the individual's maximum physical abilities. This is accomplished by utilizing a variety of objective tests in conjunction with the therapist's observation and interpretive skills. The individual is referred to us for the FCE, and our professional staff provides the testing. Our physical and occupational therapists have specific training and experience in biomechanics, ergonomics and task analysis. Physical abilities related to musculoskeletal strength, endurance, speed and flexibility can be determined. The types of tests used will vary with objective of evaluation and referral question.
An FCE is appropriate when:
- The patient is nearing the end of therapy.
- There is a question as to whether an injured patient can return to a previous job.
- There is a request to determine any work restrictions.
- The injured worker's abilities are questionable.
- The patient is not a therapy candidate, is returning to work, but needs restrictions.
- There is a need to determine if further treatment is warranted.
